#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning ...

This learning program has been interesting but extremely frustrating for a few different reasons. Firstly finding the time was always a challenge and if you aren't really really computer literate it was extremely time consuming. Being at Bwhds on me ownsome presented another problem i didn't have sam to help me and it was to hard to do on the telephone because customers would come in and god dammit expect to not only be served but hear their life story at the same time!
The best time was when we were at Belmont and i think this is how this program should have been delivered in full. Certainly would have been easier for me and what about casuals who only have slow poke dial up at home?
However it did present some new worthwhile ideas sush as the RSS feeds that was great and of course it is good to be aware of everything that is out there for not only us library people to access but the ordinary jo blow on the road.
Farewell and so long and thanks for the fish!

#22 Audiobooks (or "The end is in sight ")

E-books are a great alternative to pulling out the cd's or cassettes. They would be great for train travel but really i don't know that they would be better then the other option otherwise. Once again you have to have the technical knowhow and the hardware to be able to access it to make this an attractive alternative. Most of the time at OG it is the older generation who borrow Audio books and i may be a bit prejudice or is it ageist but i really can't see the greater percentage of them downloading audio books to thier ipod etc. as for the younger more clued in generation maybe they would use this facility but shouldn't they be learning how to read?

#21 Podcasts, Smodcasts!

Well this took awhile because i had to remeber how to do the rss feeds. I finally rmnembered that you had to go into bloglines a/c not my blogs. So the feed is there-yeah. Of course i can see that podcasts can be of use in libraries for all sorts of reasons. The obvious one is what we are doing right now training.

#20 You too can YouTube

Well had a quick look at you tube because i kept on getting interrupted by customers who were in for the chat. Couldn't work out how to copy and paste a video do you have to join up in you tube? The videos are fun to watch and could be useful to share info between libraries and they have been usefull so far in this training when they have come up as a instruction video. Once again though who has the time to check out all this stuff? I'm lucky to have the spare time to read the newspapers. This is just not a priority for me in my life at the moment!

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

Well had a look at library thing which was a very interesting and useful tool -once again though if you had the time to be sitting at a computer all day to play around with this stuff.

#18 Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops

Yeah well what can i say it's a great little package if you had some instructions as to how to use it. I couldn't find any and i haven't really got the time to play around on it for hours on end. I did set up a doc which i saved but didn't do anything else with it
